FORTIS MOHALI BECOMES ONLY PRIVATE HOSPITAL IN INDIA TO GET NABH AND JCI ACCREDITATION.

Fortis Hospital, Mohali, today announced that it had achieved the unique distinction of becoming the only private hospital in India to get accreditation from the National Accreditation Board of Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) as well as international recognition and accreditation from Joint Commission International (JCI).
In an impressive ceremony held as part of the 7th anniversary celebrations of Fortis Hospital, Mohali, the NABH certificate was unveiled by Mr. Jasbir Grewal , COO, Fortis hospital & Dr Ashok V Chordiya, Medical Director, FHM at the Hospital.
Both NABH and JCI have an elaborate and rigorous framework for quality care for patients and quality improvement at hospitals, which help in building a quality culture at all levels and across all functions of a hospital. NABH is a constituent autonomous board of the Quality Council of India (QCI), set up to establish and operate accreditation programme for healthcare delivery organizations. JCI is an international organization which has been accrediting medical facilities outside the USA since 1998. It is a subsidiary of JCAHO, which is today the largest accreditation organization in the United States in the field of medicine and has a tradition going back more than 75 years.
Elated with the prestigious recognition, Dr. Ashok Chordiya, Medical Director, Fortis Hospital, Mohali said, “The biggest beneficiaries of this accreditation will be our patients. At Fortis, we provide patients safe and high quality care by the continuous tracking, analysis and improvement of quality markers in all areas of the hospital's operations. The national and international accreditation will further spur our resolve in proving world-class quality healthcare to our patients.”
As part of the 7th anniversary celebrations, Dr G S Kalra, Director, Cardiology and Dr Mohnish Chabbra, Senior Consultant, Gastroenterologist, Fortis Hospital, Mohali addressed senior citizens of the tri-city, who were the special guests at the function.
Dr G S Kalra, Director, Cardiology, discussed the various health related problems and explained that heart attack can occur anytime inspite of a person feeling fit minutes ago. He also said that timely treatment in such cases is very crucial.
Mohnish Chabbra, Senior Consultant, Gastroenterologist, Fortis Hospital, clarified the myths and misconceptions related to gastro problems. He explained in detail the differences about people suffering from gastro problems and those being affected by gas and burp related symptoms. He clarified lot of queries which were commonly ignored otherwise.
Apart fro this, the anniversary festivities continued all day with various games, antakshari and a special cultural performance.
