The Emergency Care Programme at Fortis Healthcare, Kolkata is modelled on global lines to provide round-the-clock critical care services. It has a dedicated team of intensivists, exclusively trained nurses and paramedics, guided by a team of American Board Certified Specialists in Critical and Emergency Care.
At Fortis Healthcare, Kolkata they maintain and augment the unique healthcare with high-tech facilities such as 64 slice CT scan, advanced Avanto MRI and a fully-equipped radiology department that works full-time; state-of-the-art monitors, ventilators, hemo-dynamic monitoring equipment and PACS software. It is equipped with 70 intensive-care beds for Cardiology, Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, Neuro Surgery/Neurology, Nephrology/Uro-oncology, and Surgical Care.
Fortis has opened a new chapter in the history of critical-care by permitting the attendants of critically ill patients to stay in the hospital over night. In twin-sharing cubicles, attendants get a cot and a small storage space, besides separate provisions for drinking water, rest room and a TV for a bit of respite from anxiety.
Our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a community of skilled, innovative, caring and collaborative critical care clinicians. As a tertiary referral centre, the ICU takes care of complex critically ill and injured patients. Our supportive team environment is the essential key to our success in providing excellent care to our patients and their families.
The ICU team cares for critically ill patients with complex medical disorders as well as post-operative general surgical, solid organ transplant and orthopaedic patients. Our doctors and nurses have developed expertise in caring for patients with acute kidney injury, end-stage and acute liver failure, severe sepsis and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome.
