Divya Jain is a Counselling and Sport Psychologist with the Department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences, Fortis Healthcare. She is the Head of Psychological Services for the Fortis National Mental Health Program. Divya was the Mental Wellness Expert for Team India at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Divya completed her post graduate studies in psychology from the University of Delhi with a specialization in clinical psychology and is a Board-Certified Sport Psychologist from the American Board of Sport Psychology. She holds a Diploma in Mental Health in Elite Sport from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and has also completed a certification in Psychology for High Performance Sports from FC Barcelona’s Barça Innovation Hub.
Divya works with both adolescents and adults, providing counselling for academic, professional, health, lifestyle and relationship related stressors. She follows an eclectic and evidence-based approach to psychotherapy utilizing principles from cognitive behavioural therapy, interpersonal therapy, solution-focused therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy, for the treatment of various mental health related conditions.
As the Head of Psychological Services for the Fortis National Mental Health Program, Divya leads a team of 60+ psychologists across India.
With a super-specialization in sport psychology, Divya conducts mental skills training for peak performance, mentoring and mental well-being. She works extensively with elite and emerging athletes and para-athletes, as well as sports teams, with a keen focus on the development of sports at the grassroots. She has worked on mental toughness in sports such as cricket, football, golf, badminton, shooting, archery, tennis, table tennis, athletics, boxing, taekwando, kabaddi, judo, wushu, weight lifting, gymnastics, chess and cue sports. Using insights from sport and performance psychology, she has taken seminars with Indian paramilitary forces on the psychological aspects of soldier training. She also utilizes principles of performance enhancement with performing artists and other professionals.
Working within the community, Divya also works extensively on preventive mental health. She conducts workshops with schools, universities, NGOs, sports academies and corporate organizations across the country and overseas. Divya has also been a speaker at various forums including Tedx Youth, Sports Authority of India and with the Indian contingent of the Youth Olympic Games.
Divya has co-authored and contributed to several books in the field of psychology and mental health. She has also contributed a chapter in the “Handbook of Sport Neuroscience and Psychophysiology”.
