Dr Harsimran Singh is a graduate of the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and a post graduate (MS Orthopaedics) of PGIMER Chandigarh. He joined Fortis Mohali in 2008 after completing his super specialisation (MCh Orthopaedics) from Scoltand, UK. In 2013, he became the head of the knee replacement unit.
He has the unique distinction of performing all surgeries using Computer Navigation since 2009, having done over 30000 knee replacements till date. This is the largest series in Navigated replacements for any surgeon in India. Since last year, he is doing the largest number of robotic guided knee replacements in this region.
Under his leadership, Fortis knee replacement unit has been in the forefront of introducing cutting edge technologies to enhance safety and comfort of patients. This includes OT protocols to nearly eliminate the incidence of prosthetic joint infections, anaesthesia protocols for safe surgery in elderly patients having multiple medical co-morbidities, multimodal analgesia to minimise post operative pain, minimally invasive surgical approaches, modified measured resection technique for better soft tissue balancing thereby eliminating the need for supervised physiotherapy.
The unit is also the leader in introducing partial knee replacement in this region, and is notified as centre of excellence for UKR (partial knee) by Oxford-Zimmer institute.

Dr Harsimran Singh is the Chairman of Fortis Orthopaedics Specialty Council, the nodal body for issuing guidelines and technical knowhow to the Orthoapedic departments of the entire Fortis group of hospitals.
He is also a member of the Fortis Medical Council, the premier body for leading innovations across all specialties.
Dr Harsimran Singh has trained over 40 Orthopaedic surgeons in knee replacement over the last 16 years. Aesculap Academy and Zimmer Institute have recognised him as a faculty and program director for training of Orthopaedic fellows in Computer Navigated and Partial knee replacements.
