He is the leading surgeon in the world in the field of gender affirmation surgery with over 3500 cases to his credit. This Department is also the leading unit in country in terms of number of sex change operations being performed, currently, around 240 per year. Dr. Richie Gupta is the founding Director of Association for Transgender Health In India (ATHI) and It’s professional wing- Indian Professional Association for Transgender Health (IPATH). He routinely participates in Continuing Medical Education (CME) Programs and conferences. Prominent amongst these are the IPATHCON 2019, in which he was the organizing chairperson. He co wrote the surgical chapter in and was instrumental in the release of the first ever Indian Standards of Care for persons with gender incongruence and people with differences in sexual development/ orientation (ISCO1), which was released during online IPATHCON 2020.
