Heart dashed from Indore to Mumbai hospital in 2 hours, city driver gets new life Nov 09, 2016

The heart of an Indore resident gave a new lease of life to a 45-year-old driver from Alibaug, who has been wait-listed for more than two months. The organ was flown to the city and transported to Fortis Hospital, Mulund, in over two hours on Tuesday.

The donor, a 45-year-old butcher, suffered an irreversible brain damage after a road accident. He was declared brain dead at Suyash Hospital in Indore. His parents, wife and two children gave their consent to donate his organs. The recipient was suffering from dilated cardiomyopathy where the heart's pumping capacity is diminished. This is the second time a heart from Indore has saved an end-stage heart patient in Maharashtra.
