Lisa Ray visits Fortis Ludhiana to spread ray of hope
To commemorate the 2nd anniversary of Fortis Hospital Ludhiana, the hospital joined hands with actress and philanthropist Lisa Ray to create cancer awareness.
Along with Facility Director Mr. Vivan Singh Gill, Ms.Lisa Ray paid a visit to Fortis Hospital Ludhiana. She met cancer patients and interacted with them.

As a way of celebrating 2nd anniversary of service to community the event was held on January 14th at IREO Waterfront and was attended by dignitaries, cancer survivors, Fortis Management and renowned doctors and surgeons. The event was inaugurated by Lisa Ray, who has successfully battled multiple myeloma (cancer). Reminiscing her own battle with cancer, Lisa said: “I was diagnosed with blood cancer which is considered incurable and I am still living with this condition. Cancer has transformed my life in so many ways. I drew support from not only my Family but from people from all around the world because I was open to my cancer diagnosis.”
Addressing various cancer-related queries, the actress spoke about her grueling battle against cancer: “Hope, support and humour helped her keep depression at bay and to be cured. Rising above cancer diagnosis was through a combination of right treatment, emotional support, meditation, faith and right diet.”
Dr. J.S. Sekhon, Director (Deptt. of Oncosciences) stressed that death from cancer can be prevented by regularized efforts to reduce tobacco use, reducing obesity, improving diet and physical activity and most importantly increasing the use of established screening tests. Asserting the importance of early detection, Dr. Harish Matta Consultant- Dept. of Surgery Fortis Hospital Ludhiana said: “The sooner the cancer is diagnosed and treated, the better a person’s chance for full recovery.”
Dr. Parveen Kaur, HOD & Consultant- Radiation Oncology Fortis Hospital Ludhiana said: “Today, cancer is the most dreaded disease but if diagnosed early it can be treated. So, as a socially responsible healthcare provider it is our responsibility to spread maximum awareness for early diagnosis.”
To boost the spirit of people battling with cancer, Lisa Ray and the team of Oncosciences walked the ramp Fortis Ludhiana’s cancer survivors. The actress also formally launched the Fortis Ludhiana Comprehensive Cancer Care Unit and Fortis Relationship Card which were exclusively signed by Lisa Ray. The event was followed by Fortis Hospital Ludhiana’s 2nd anniversary celebrations.
