Dr Hardeep Singh, Senior Consultant, Department of Mental Health, Fortis Mohali in an advisory explains every workplace has its own story related to stress, but there are ways to manage the mental stress.

Understanding Stress Management

·       Lifestyle Adjustments: Emphasize the importance of a balanced diet, regular exercise, adequate sleep, and leisure activities.

Creating a Supportive Environment

2.     Utilizing Resources:

o   Implement mental health calculators to assess workplace stress levels.

o   Ensure mental health coverage is included in employee insurance plans.

3.     Employee Assistance Programs:

o   Incorporate EAPs that provide confidential support for employees facing personal challenges.

4.     Addressing Stigma:

o   Actively work to reduce stigma surrounding mental health and increase access to available resources.

5.     Promoting Well-being:

o   Encourage flexibility in work arrangements and promote practices such as meditation, yoga, and mindfulness training.

o   Foster social connections among employees through team-building events and activities.

6.     Encouraging Time Off:

o   Support the importance of vacation time to allow employees to recharge and maintain their mental health.

A Call to Action

Mental health is a vital component of workplace wellness. By implementing these strategies, organizations can create a healthier work environment that not only benefits employees but also enhances productivity and morale.
