Fortis Bangalore supported TCS World 10K Run as Medical Partners – A 7 year-long association
Fortis Hospitals Bangalore for the last 7 years has been supporting TCS 10k Marathon as Medical Partner. This year on 21st May, Sunday, nearly 170 medical professional from Fortis were present at the run and were successful in providing medical aid for the event. A base camp and three medical stations was setup near the finish line where all necessary aid was provided. The event witnessed more than 23,000 runners which also had a group of enthusiastic Fortisians.
During the pre-event program a CPR training was provided to interested participants and organizers. A pre-event press conference was also held in which Dr. Vivek Jawali, Chief Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgeon, Chairman, Dept of Cardio Vascular Sciences, Fortis Hospitals, Bangalore addressed the gathering and answered all clinical questions. At the eve of the event day he said, “In TCS 10K run, Fortis Hospital was constantly involved in providing medical attention to the runners. The team of professionals included Chief Consultants, Anesthetists, Orthopedics, ICU staff, Cardiologists, General Physicians, Physiotherapist, nurses and other medical staff”.
Total of 400 people approached Fortis base camp for seeking help for simple ailments like leg cramp, pain, etc. The most common complaints which participants observed apart from cramps were dizziness, dehydrations, low BP, hypertension and minor cuts. Most of them were kept under observation for 15-20 minutes. Also, three patients were shifted to Fortis Hospital Cunningham Road and treated in emergency. When stable, the patients were discharged and advised regular checkup.
