Fortis Cancer Institute conducted a Surgical Workshop & CME on Early Stage Breast Cancer – “Is Lesser Better”?

Bengaluru, April, 18, 2022: Fortis Cancer Institute, Bannerghatta Road, conducted a Surgical Workshop & CME on the topic, “Early Stage Breast Cancer – “Is Lesser Better”? today. The CME was inaugurated by Breast Cancer survivors who underwent successful treatment and recovery at Fortis Cancer Institute along with Dr Vijaykumar Vice chancellor, Yenepoya University and Dr Priya Sreedharan- Facility Director- Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road in the presence of senior doctors. Among the breast cancer survivors, xxxx mother of Rachel David, a budding Malayalam and Kannada actress came forward to share her journey of winning the battle against cancer

The highlight of the CME led by Dr Sandeep Nayak- Director- Surgical Oncology was treating breast cancer using IORT (Intra Operative Radiation Therapy) system which is a major breakthrough in cancer treatment. Few other important topics discussed during the CME were Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy using ICG and Planning Breast Conservation Surgery. Around 200 doctors and professors from reputed hospitals and universities took part in the informative session. A live procedure of breast cancer surgery was also showcased during the surgery wherein the team of doctors explained about new techniques and treatment modalities for breast cancer surgery.
