Jaipur, November 08th, 2024: Fortis Escorts Hospital Jaipur organized an advanced ‘Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS)’ pre-conference workshop on 8th November as part of State-Level RAJCRITICON 2024 by ISCCM Jaipur. The workshop was designed to equip healthcare professionals with critical ultrasound skills vital for bedside patient care in emergency and intensive care. Dr. Vaibhav Bhargava and Dr. Kishore Mangal, Senior Consultants in Critical Care Medicine at Fortis Escorts Hospital Jaipur and Managing Directors of the specialized POCUS workshop.

Guest speakers Dr. NK Joshi from AIIMS Nagpur, Dr Gopal Jalwal from AIIMS Bhatinda and Dr. Ankur Sharma from AIIMS Jodhpur, and others shared their expertise on key topics including Ultrasound Physics, Wave dynamics, Lung Ultrasound, Pathology Interpretation, Critical Care Echocardiography, and Trauma Protocols such as FAST and E-FAST.

During this day long workshop, participants engaged in scenario-based, hands-on training at their workstations and gained practical experience in using ultrasound technology for real-time decision-making in critical situations.

Dr. Vaibhav Bhargava, Senior Consultants Critical Care, Fortis Escorts Hospital Jaipur stated that “The workshop is aimed at empowering the doctors to make immediate, informed decisions, especially in life-threatening situations. A focused ultrasound exam gives us insights into a patient’s hemodynamic status and fluid responsiveness, which can be the difference between timely intervention and delayed diagnosis. By building these skills, we’re helping healthcare providers deliver more responsive, precise care in critical moments.”

Dr. Kishore Mangal, Senior Consultants Critical Care, Fortis Escorts Hospital Jaipur says that “A solid grasp of ultrasound physics, principles, and machine operation—often called ‘knobology’—is essential for effective use of this technology in clinical practice. By mastering these basics, healthcare professionals can harness ultrasound’s full diagnostic potential, making faster and more accurate assessments. This workshop aims to demystify these core concepts, allowing practitioners to maximize the tool’s capabilities and elevate the standard of care for critical patients”
