Fortis Hospital and Rotary Club of Kalyan host ‘Tour de Kalyan’ Cyclothon
Fortis Hospital, Kalyan associated with over 1220(1100 of Group A & B and 12 of Group C) cyclists as medical support partner, at the‘Tour de Kalyan’ Cyclothon. Supported by Rotary Club of Kalyan, Kalyan Cyclist Association and Thane Zilla Cycling Association to spread the message of ‘Go Green, Go Healthy & Stay Fit’, the cyclothon was flagged off at 7am at Vasant Valley Road, Khadapkada, Kalyan. The event was flagged-off by MLA, Mr. Narendra Pawar.
The event was divided into three sub-categories for different age groups and the distance covered.
Group A consisted of boys and girls below the age of 14yrs covering 4kms started at 7am.
Group B consisted of kids from the age of 14yrs to 17yrs covering 8kms started at 7:40am.
Group C consisted of amateurs of 18yrs and above 50kms which began at 6:30am.
As Medical Partner for the Cyclothon, Fortis Hospital, Kalyan, made available essential medical support for the participates. Two fully-equipped Fortis ambulances and support staff comprising of three Doctors, six Nurses, one Physiotherapist, equipped with first-aid facilities were present during the Cyclothon to tackle any casualty during the marathon. While one ambulance was stationed at the starting point of the venue, and the other ambulance moved along with the cyclists to address any medical emergency that might arise. Fortis Hospital’s staff, Management teams and Paramedical staff were stationed at the water junctions across the course of the Cyclothon to ensure immediate medical support in case of any emergency. This event reported about 15 casualties, who were promptly treated by the team of medical professionals from the hospital, present at the event.

Cycling is a brilliant exercise; it is healthy, environment-friendly and fun way of communicating the importance of fitness. We are happy to provide medical support to the participants. Such enthusiastic participation shows that intent and commitment to remain in better health”.
