Fortis Hospital, Cunningham Road partners with VRWA for “plastic beda campaign”
Fortis Hospital, Cunningham Road, partnered with Vasanthnagar Residents' Welfare Association (R) (VRWA) for “Plastic Beda Campaign” for reducing/eliminating the usage of harmful plastic. This is being taken by Fortis Hospital under its community connect initiative. The campaign was conducted between 03:30pm to 5:30pm. There were dignitaries from BBMP, Fortis Hospital and VRWA were present at the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Dr L Sreenivas Murthy, Consultant Internal Medicine Fortis Hospital, Cunningham Road, said “Plastic has many adverse impact on the health of people. There are many chemical additives, which are added in the manufacturing of plastic and people get exposed to it while using them. The chemical like PVC can cause cancer, birth defects, genetic changes, chronic bronchitis, ulcers, skin diseases, deafness, vision failure, indigestion, and liver dysfunction. Sometime the chemicals present in plastic irritate your eyes, nose and throats but due to unawareness we attribute these problems to other factors.”
BBMP Officials also presented on the issue of plastic usage, the Rules and Regulations governing the usage of Plastics as well as information about alternative solutions. Almost 150 Shops, Eateries, Hotels, etc. from the locality participated in the campaign.
