Ludhiana, March 2024: To mark World Obesity Day (March 4th, 2024) Fortis Hospital Ludhiana highlights the alarming rise in obesity cases, which are leading to an increase in fatty liver disease, diabetes, and heart conditions. Doctors address the growing concern of obesity leading to NCDs, and ways to prevent it. Early intervention and regular check-ups were also the focus of the discussion. Globally, obesity has become an epidemic as it increases the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular illnesses. As per WHO’s recent report, the number of people who die each year from obesity-related causes has almost tripled in the last 20 years accounting for 2.8 million deaths.
