To Save the life of accident victims, Fortis Escorts Hospital, Jaipur Conducts Training in CPR for Cops

Jaipur, 15-10-19: Observing the ‘World Anesthesia Day’, the Department of Anesthesia, Fortis Escorts Hospital, Jaipur along with its cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) team, conducted Basic Life Support (BLS) training for all police officials today as they reach the accident spot first. The training, followed by an eye check provided to 40 cops, was held at the police headquarter, Yaadgar in the city.

The training includes teaching life-saving techniques such as the basics of CPR and trauma management, accidental transport care, identification of emergencies, first aid dressing and plastering.

CPR is one of the precious tools for accident victims before they reach hospital to ensure they can take maximum benefit of the ‘golden hour’ – as many as 30 per cent of road accident victims can be saved with CPR[1]. With rising number of vehicles across India over the past decade, accidents and trauma injuries have also increased. The training in CPR can make the first responder more effective in saving a life.

 “The Basic Life Support (BLS) training for police is a necessary life skill that could prevent large number of deaths due to unforeseen factors such as accident, trauma or cardiac arrest. The aim of today’s workshop was to train the police as they are the first ones to attend to such accidents and therefore we decided to train them on till the injured are taken to a hospital. Cops thus trained can save many lives and the purpose of this training will get fulfilled even if a few lives are saved. Infact, we would like to see CPR training as a part of school curriculum in coming days.
