S.L RAHEJA HOSPITAL MUMBAI’S TWO-DAYS CAMP AT GADCHIROLI HELPS IDENTIFY 26 CHILDREN NEEDING CLEFT LIP PALATE & PAEDIATRIC CARDIAC INTERVENTIONS
Gadchiroli, September 2, 2024: S.L. Raheja Hospital, Mumbai - A Fortis Associate, in association with Spandan Foundation, hosted a free two-days health camp on 31st August and 1st September, for children with cleft lip palate and congenital heart issues, at Gadchiroli. The specialized camp was hosted for children between 0-18 years of age. The goal of the camp was to extend screening and diagnostic services to a broader population across the region, helping identify children needing urgent interventions. This health camp witnessed active participation from 96 children.
The camp was conducted at Civil Hospital, Chandrapur Road, Gadchiroli, by an expert doctors’ team from S.L. Raheja Hospital, Mumbai - A Fortis Associate. The paediatric cardiac camp was led by Dr Raunak Seth, Consultant-Paediatric Cardiologist, and Dr Shyamdeep Borgohain, Consultant-Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon under the guidance of Dr Snehal Kulkarni, HOD – Paediatric Cardiology. The Cleft Palate camp was led by Dr Tofiq Bohra, Consultant-Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr Kunal Punamiya, CEO, S.L. Raheja Hospital, Mumbai - A Fortis Associate said, “This initiative empowers us to make a real difference in the lives of paediatric patients who need age-sensitive critical interventions. With this program, we aim to support parents in the region by making quality paediatric care accessible, resulting in improved health outcomes. Both the cleft lip palate and paediatric cardiac programs will help enhance the quality of life for these children.”
Based on the evaluation done at the camp the S.L. Raheja Hospital, Mumbai will expand its services to include a full spectrum of interventions—both surgical and non-surgical, for children with congenital heart defects. Additionally, children diagnosed with cleft lip deformities will receive transformative corrective surgeries
