Successful Brachial Plexus Injury Surgery done on a road accident victim of 25 years of age to restore movement in his upper limb

Fortis Hospital, Noida conducted a remarkable surgery to give a new lease of life to a 25 year old road accident victim. In medical terminology, this surgery is called the Brachial plexus injury surgery. The surgery was led by Dr. Arvind Jain, Consultant, Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Department, Fortis Hospital, Noida.

Manish Kumar met with a road accident almost a year and a half back at his native town. The accident resulted in the patient losing complete movement in his right upper limb. Consultations with innumerable physicians and surgeons did not yield improvements on the upper limb.

A series of diagnostic tests later, the patient was diagnosed with Brachial Plexus injury. Corrective surgery for this condition is mandatory within a time span of three months post any accident for best results.

The brachial plexus is the network of nerves that sends signals from spine to shoulder, arm and hand. Signs and symptoms may include a limp or paralyzed arm, lack of muscle control in the arm, hand, or wrist, and lack of feeling or sensation in the arm or hand.
