ON WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY 2024, FORTIS HOSPITAL MULUND HONORS ORAL CANCER SURVIVORS 

 Mumbai, 31st May 2024: Cancer specialists at Fortis Hospital Mulund celebrated World No Tobacco Day 2024 by honoring head and neck Cancer warriors at the hospital today. The hospital hosted the initiative to uplift the spirits of Cancer patients and equip them with accurate information and tools for their recovery. As part of this effort, a check-up camp and an informative session to raise awareness about the health risks associated with tobacco consumption was organized.  

The team of medical experts led by Dr Hitesh Singhavi, Consultant - Head & Neck Onco Surgery, Fortis Hospital Mulund, along Physiotherapists, Dieticians, and PsychoOncologists, educated and examined more than 100 attendees. The focus of the event was on raising awareness and promoting methods to improve rehabilitation of Cancer survivors. It also promoted importance of healthy food habits, exercise routines, dental rehabilitation techniques and positive mindset for managing Cancer. In addition, the expert demonstrated techniques to self-examine the mouth and addressed patient concerns.   

Post-session, the Cancer survivors, their family members, and doctors participated in a walkathon arranged by the hospital to raise awareness about the impact of consuming tobacco on ones’ health and lifestyle.  

 Speaking about the initiative, Dr Vishal Beri, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital Mulund said, “Head and Neck Cancer survivors, require personalized and timely care. With this program, we hope to support them in leading normal lives and to celebrate their journey of survival. Consuming tobacco is one of the main causes for Head and Neck Cancers, we aim to educate people about the serious health risks linked to tobacco consumption and to motivate them to make better decisions.”
