As a leading cancer treatment provider, Fortis strives to provide patients with advanced treatment options. Our surgeons combine the expertise of their skilled surgeons with state-of-the-art robot technology to provide robotic-assisted Surgical Oncology. There are some types of cancers that cannot be treated with traditional open surgery. During robotic surgery, specially trained surgeons use tiny surgical tools and a computer console to remove cancer from a patient.

During cancer treatment, the primary goal of doctors is to deliver the most effective treatment for patient by identifying the exact location, its relationship with adjacent organs and body parts, specific type and stage of cancer. It is crucial to consider the patient's prognosis and consider the appropriate surgical goals accordingly.

Surgery may be performed for various reasons, depending on the individual's specific situation:

Curative Surgery: The primary goal is to completely remove the cancerous tumor with the intention of achieving a cure.

Neoadjuvant Surgery: Surgery is performed before other treatments like chemotherapy or radiation therapy to reduce the size of the tumor, making subsequent treatments more effective.

Palliative Surgery: The aim is to alleviate symptoms, such as pain, or to restore function and improve the patient's quality of life.

Robotic surgery is now being considered as an option for many types of cancers. In many cases, robotic surgery is now being recommended as a better alternative to open surgery, offering potential advantages. Your treating doctor’s team will assess your specific condition and recommend the most suitable treatment approach, including robotic surgery if appropriate

Experience cutting-edge care through our advanced robotic-assisted cardiac surgeries. Our skilled surgical team employs state-of-the-art robotic technology to perform precise procedures, ensuring optimal outcomes and quick recovery. Robotic-assisted surgery employs advanced technology to achieve greater precision and minimize invasiveness. Utilizing robotic arms, surgeons perform procedures through smaller incisions, reducing both trauma and scarring. This improves visibility and facilitates precise manoeuvres during intricate cardiac procedures.

Introduction:

One common question that frequently arises in both scientific and social forums pertains to the quest for a permanent cure for male sexual organ dysfunction, commonly known as erectile dysfunction (ED).

Addressing Specific Issues:

In cases where structural problems such as curvature or cordy affect the male sexual organ, corrective procedures can offer a permanent restoration of erectile function.

Individualized Treatment Plans:

For rarer problems, a customized treatment plan can be devised, emphasizing the importance of consulting a specialized andrologist for a thorough evaluation and personalized recommendations.

In conclusion, a permanent solution for erectile dysfunction is often achievable, contingent upon a precise diagnosis and the adoption of a tailored treatment plan by a qualified andrologist.

Fortis Hospitals Bangalore has embraced cutting-edge robotic technologies to provide state-of-the-art medical services to its patients.

Robotic surgical systems like the DaVinci Xi and Mako Robot for Knee Replacement have become indispensable tools in the hands of skilled surgeons at Fortis. These advanced technologies enable the medical team to perform highly precise procedures, leading to improved patient outcomes and quicker recovery times.

With every aspect of healthcare advancing, it has been no different for the way surgeries are performed in India. Until now, surgeons had the option of performing an open incision or a laparoscopy surgery that is highly dependent on the surgeon’s hand-skills. But now, a new wave of robotic surgery is taking a surge in India. It is a new category of minimally invasive surgery using the DaVinci Xi® Surgical System that offers an effortless way of performing complex surgical procedures.

Da Vinci surgical system enables minimal invasive surgeries for the following

  • Heart Valve Disease
  • Kidney cancer
  • Prostate Cancer
  • Achalasia (Swallowing disorder)
  • Gall Bladder disorders
  • Fibroid Tumour
  • Endometriosis
  • Ulcerative Colitis

Preparation for the Surgery: Using an MRI or CT scan, the exact position of the invasion site is found and estimated, following which the reports are set into the DaVinci Xi system for enhanced precision.

During the surgery

  • The patient is asked to lie on their back followed by an incision of 1-2cm at the target location that is done using a robotic arm. The robotic arm functions on the directions fed by the surgeon.
  • The surgeon directs the robotic arms of the machine, by sitting at the console.
  • He accesses the target anatomy using accurately controlled EndoWrist instruments.
  • He completes the surgery using short and precise hand movements.
  • The surgeon’s hand, wrist and finger movements are translated into precise movements by the da Vinci system making use of miniaturized instruments at the patient-side cart, all happening in real-time.

After the surgery: The main benefit is the reduced time to return back to normal life, which is possible through this surgery, unlike any other traditional methods.

MAKO Robotic - Total Knee Replacement

The MAKO Robotic is the latest invention in the field of knee replacement surgery and in Fortis hospital Bannerghatta Road. Now we have this MAKO Robotic program already running and there are several patients who already got benefit of this surgery MAKO Robotic.

Involves a virtual modelling of the knee and a robotic will assist your surgeon to make the bone resection and component position of the knee replacement very accurately. So you will have a Connecticut scan done before surgery. As you are aware a Connecticut scan will create a virtual 3-dimensional knee model before doing the knee replacement surgery.

And as you can imagine, the 3D modelling will make your knee precise model so that a surgeon can use that model inside the ROBO to make accurate calculations for different angles and axis of the knee replacement component placement. Once the CT scan has been done during the surgery, the MAKO robotic machine will calculate again the different angles. It can also be changed by the surgeon if he has to change and hence.

The robotic machine will take inputs from this 3D image and a 3D model and then accurately calculate your knee replacement position during surgery. We do what is called as a bone resection in different plane so that the knee component can go inside the bone. This resection of the bone is also done by the robotic arm because it is a robotic arm.

Surgeries Performed Using MAKO Robo

  • Robotic Knee Replacement
  • Robotic Hip Replacement
  • Robotic Direct Anterior hip replacements
  • robotic partial knee replacements.
