Maitri - Fortis Menopause Clinic
Embrace the Change, Embrace Yourself.
Introducing Comprehensive Menopause Care

Lets Understand Menopause

Menopause, a natural phase in a woman's life, marks the end of her menstrual cycles and fertility. Typically occurring in the late 40s to early 50s, menopause is characterized by hormonal changes as the ovaries gradually produce less estrogen and progesterone. This transition brings about a range of physical and emotional symptoms, including hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. While menopause is a normal part of aging, it can also increase the risk of certain health conditions like osteoporosis and heart disease due to declining estrogen levels. However, with proper support and management, many women find relief from symptoms and continue to lead healthy, fulfilling lives during and after menopause. It's essential for women to seek guidance from healthcare professionals and embrace this transformative phase with self-care and empowerment.

Maitri – A dedicated Fortis Menopause Clinic

Menopause is a transformative journey that affects women both physically and emotionally.

By addressing menopausal symptoms and optimizing overall health, Fortis Maitri programme helps women transition smoothly through menopause and promote long-term health and well-being in the postmenopausal years.

FAQs

  • What are the common symptoms of Menopause?
    1. Hot flushes and night sweats 2. Changes in the regularity and flow of the menstrual cycle 3. Vaginal dryness, pain during sexual intercourse and incontinence. 4. Difficulty sleeping/insomnia 5. Changes in mood, depression, and/or anxiety.
  • Is bleeding after menopause normal?
Bleeding from the vagina after menopause is unusual. The cause of your bleeding may be harmless, or it could be due to something serious. Get it checked by your gynecologist as soon as you can.
  • What is Hormone Replacement therapy? Should i take it?
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is to help women whose menopausal symptoms - hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, or vaginal dryness - are severe. The decision to take HRT is highly personal and complex. It depends on many factors like your health history, your age and your symptoms.
  • Does menopause impact a woman's risk for heart disease?
Yes. Due to fall in estrogen levels, fat can build up in the arteries causing them to become narrower. Such hormonal changes during menopause can bring increased cardiovascular risk in the form of higher blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
  • Can menopause cause osteoporosis?
Women can lose bone more rapidly during menopause due to decline in estrogen levels. This increases the risk of osteoporosis, thereby increasing the risk of bone fracture. It’s important to monitor this with your Endocrinologist carefully.
